hi, my first time posting. i have a sc-2 with no serial number. on the bridge where the serial number should be is says "custom" . also, you can see in the pics where it was routed out, after the fact, for the tremelo bridge.i am wondering what the story is with this guitar. has anyone seen one with no serial number before? i am including pics of the guitar.
also, on a different subject, on the guitar registry, i have another sc-2, and an invader from the 80's, that i would like to include inthe registry but i dont see either the sc-2 or the invader listed in there.
thanks in advance for any help with this.

The original DFV bridge with serial number was replaced with a DFV bridge which was built at the G&L factory for aftermarket use. See this page on Greg's website: https://www.ggjaguar.com/vibebox.htm. The model number was BV 100 and you can see it listed on this
page of the G&L Pricelist for July 1990:

Our G&L Registry is not a complete list of factory built instruments but is built from member added entries.
Please add your SC-2's and Invader to this Registry.
Hope this helps.

hi, thankyou for your reply. i am going to try and post pics. it seems like this is an original bridge, but with the word "custom" and "G&L" printed instead of the serial number.

hope the pics show. thanks again for your help. i will try to register the sc-2's.the invader, and the sc-1, that i have.

ok, i think i get it, so someone put the vibrato bridge on later, converted it from a hardtail? it didnt come from the factory like this? and now, no serial number.

Yes, that is one possibility. Another is that the original DFV bridge was replaced with the BV-100 part for whatever reason.paragon009 wrote: ↑Sat May 24, 2025 11:09 am ok, i think i get it, so someone put the vibrato bridge on later, converted it from a hardtail? it didnt come from the factory like this? and now, no serial number.
Those aftermarket bridge assemblies were first available in the August 1, 1983 G&L Dealer Price List. They were intentionally built
with the top of the bridge plate curved inward instead of the outward curved bridge plates with stamped Serial Numbers used in production
from 1980-1983, G&L instruments had the serial number stamped on the bridge. In 1983, the serial number was relocated and stamp onto the 3-bolt neckplate. See reference post:Serial number significance.
Hope this helps.

it looks like there is the outline of a previous bridge under the existing one.
